Key: “Walk into”. For a brief period, the manager of the local O’Reilly was a former machinist with extensive SBC rebuild experience, and the guy who used to be the NAPA manager here was not only a mechanic but a paint and body man. I think the back room guy at the Advance here in town is still a qualified ASE, and there are a couple of others even with those first two gone. The O’Reilly a little further out has some tuner guys who aren’t completely inept.
The problem here is that you have to do a *lot* of business with retail auto parts stores to be able to learn who’s a mechanic and who’s just a tool.

Based on the same trans. Just as unreliable.

Actually let me rephrase that. It’s very reliable as long as owners use it correctly which 99.9% of the owners don’t.

Meh, usually the 2.7L fries its bearings or the timing belt snaps when the water pump shits the bed on the 3.2/3.5 before the trans has a chance to fail.

My co-worker and I were arguing about 4th Gen Camaro’s (Ugly? or REALLY Ugly?) when it hit us.
Holy shit, they look like Chrysler Concordes when you put a grill in there....
